Well done everyone. This week was all about balls, a bit tough but you all managed brilliantly and the reward of lovely fascia release was appreciated by your feet! 

I am away training in London Anatomy trains part 2. So No classes Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th September.

Pilates is a series of intelligent exercises based on strengthening your core and joint stability muscles. These muscles support the body's internal organs and help us to stand and move correctly during our daily life, but the muscles become weak, due to poor posture, injury or illness. Pain, tension and stress combined with poor sleeping patterns exacerbate the condition.


I started Pilates to strengthen my back after bouts of sciatica. I really like the functional modern Pilates that Sandra teaches, her classes are well planned and tailored to suit all levels. She always ensure the moves I am making are accurate and working the right muscles, she adjusts your body position slightly and it makes all the difference. Sandra ensures you work at your own level, focusing on accurate movements not speed or lots of repetitions. I can feel the difference already with my core feeling stronger.


My name is Alison Robinson I am 54 years old and have done some form of exercise all my life. I thought I was quite fit. Last year I developed a problem with my left knee, which resulted in surgery. I have a long term problem with my groin on the right side and this was aggravated even more by excessive weightbearing on the right side due to the issue with the left knee. I was having Physio for my knee post op and my groin problem flared up. When this happens it tends to last for a week and is very debilitating and really hurts. It is like a nerve on nerve pain.
This has been a troublesome time as I am the sort of person that runs everywhere normally.

I started Pilates with Sandra on a one to one basis as I wanted to understand the ethos of Pilates.
It is the best thing I could have done. Sandra is an excellent teacher of Pilates and has made me understand why and how it works. She takes a holistic approach and I now understand how one problem can create another, she tailors all sessions to my individual issues and is helping to re-balance and strengthen my whole body. Sandra has introduced me to the foam roller and I will be eternally grateful for that introduction.
Due to my new exercise regime I can now manage my groin pain to the point were it is no longer a problem and I feel a very different person. I take my roller everywhere and use it regularly to prevent the problem reoccurring. I am so relieved.

Now addicted to Pilates I also go to her group classes and still continue to have a one to one whilst my knee is still recovering, I feel so much healthier and stronger.


I thought I was fit, I am young healthy 21 year old, I go swimming and to the gym but my posture was terrible, I was always hunched over, my job means I am on my feet all day and I would come home with back ache, shoulder ache, headache, foot ache, well the whole body felt off. My Mum mentioned Pilates as she loves it, she attends classes and raves about them. I decided to give it a try and because I wanted to sort my back ache I started with 1:1 sessions. Sandra was very patient, she analysed my posture, told me how my poor posture was causing many of my problems and although fit, my core strength needed developing, to be honest not sure I had any core strength! She devised a program to readdress these issues. At first, I wasn't sure about Pilates, how could such slow, gentle movements do any good? How wrong was I, the smallest movements when made correctly are hard to do because it uses the core muscles properly. I now love Pilates, my back and various aches have almost gone, I feel stronger and it helps me sleep better.


Sandra Rust is a brilliant Pilates teacher and the studio she uses has a really nice ambiance to it. Before we began the exercise programme Sandra assessed our posture and general fitness level this was important as my husband Dave suffers with lower back pain. Throughout the Pilates exercise programme Sandra constantly checked and corrected the body posture and positioning of both myself and my husband so that she ensured we stayed within our limitations and avoided straining muscles.

The programme was delivered in a very positive and encouraging manner and Sandra communicated the exercises we needed to do really well and demonstrated them if we weren't sure. Neither of us felt rushed or under pressure to move through the programme and the individual attention we received made us feel safe and confident to complete the excercises.

Sandra talked us through a set of gentle exercises that we could do at home, the best homework we have received!
